CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS

We accept all types of credit and debit cards (excluding AMEX) and all payments are taken securely through HSBC's Global Iris secure payment pages. We do not store or have access to your card details. The Gap Year Travel Store is part of Silverfox Global Ltd and as such all payments will be shown on your bank statement under this name.
 

RETURNS POLICY 

You have the right to return your goods at any time up to the end of 30 days after you receive the goods. Damaged or incomplete orders must also be notified within this time period. To exercise your right of cancellation, you must give notice to us by phone or email, giving your order ID and the reason for the return. If you exercise your right of cancellation after the goods have been delivered to you, you will be responsible for returning the goods at your own cost. The goods must be returned to the address below:

You must take reasonable care to ensure the goods are not damaged in the meantime or in transit. If returned goods arrive in a damaged or unsaleable condition you will not receive a refund. Unless the order is found to be faulty you will only be refunded the value of the items and not the postage. Postage on international returns will also not be refunded. Here are some commonly used return methods:

1) Royal Mail

For smaller items the cheapest option is to take them down to your local post office. Please ensure you obtain proof of posting as any loss or damage will have to be claimed from Royal Mail by yourself.

2) DPD Shop Returns

For larger items, our DPD shop returns service can be the most cost effective. We email you a label which you fix to your parcel and then simply drop off at your nearest DPD 'drop off shop'. You can find you nearest shop on the following webpage http://www.dpd.co.uk/apps/shopfinder/index.jsp. We charge £6.99 for this service, and this will be deducted from your refund when we process your returned order. If you want to use this service let us know and we will send a label through.

3) Organise a Courier Collection

If you want someone to collect your order, we recommend you book a collection with a courier service. You can do this by visiting a website such as www.parcel2go.com. They will give you a number of options, including drop off services and collections, and you pay the company directly on their website.

:: Faulty Items

If your item has a fault please contact us so we can advise on what to do next, as the course of action we will recommend will depend on the type of product and the fault.

 

DELIVERY PROBLEMS 


:: Delayed Orders 
Due to Royal Mail terms and conditions of postage we must wait 14 days before declaring an order lost in transit. DPD courier deliveries can be tracked, so please contact us so we can find your order. If you feel that your order is taking longer than expected to arrive please contact us.

:: Undelivered Items Returned to Us

If an order is returned to us by the courier because the customer did not collect or rearrange another delivery we will have to charge a second delivery. If you alternatively choose to cancel your order a courier return fee will be taken from your refund payment.

:: Change of Delivery Address
Once an order has been dispatched from our warehouse the couriers impose a charge to change address. We will have to charge this to the customer if changes need to be made.

 

PRODUCT GUARANTEES

All our products come with 1 years guarantee against manufacturing faults. Please note that this does not include general wear and tear or damage caused by third parties. In some cases you will need to deal directly with the Manufacturer and in others we can deal on their behalf. Please contact us stating the fault and we will advise on the next course of action. Some items such as rucksacks may need to be sent for testing to determine whether there is a manufacturing fault. If the fault is found not to be with the manufacturer we can return the item to you at your cost.

:: Lifetime Guarantees
Some of our manufacturers offer a lifetime guarantee on their products. This covers the product against defective materials and workmanship. These guarantees are limited to the failure of the product under normal usage and repairs or replacements will be at the discretion of the manufacturer. All postage costs will be undertaken by the customer for claims made under a lifetime guarantee.

 

WEEE REGULATIONS

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now UK law. The legislation aims to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.

The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.

Much of the UK'€™s WEEE ends up in landfill, where the lead and other toxins it contains can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and also human health.

Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save our natural finite resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill.

Distributors of new Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE) have a part to play in reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill sites.

The Gap Year Travel Store is obliged under these regulations to offer our customers free take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new Electrical or Electronic product from us.

For example, if a customer bought a hairdyer from us we would accept their old hairdryer and prevent it going into a landfill site by disposing of it safely. Customers must return their WEEE item to us within 28 days of purchasing their new item.

Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol.

Goods are marked with this symbol to show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled.
