Quite possibly the rucksack of any backpacker's dreams, the Lowe Alpine Kulu combines the standard components of a rucksack with innovative features to ease the stress of transit. The stand out feature on the Kulu is its patented Travel FlipBelt, which pivots and clips to the sides of the pack to help keep it more streamlined and less bulky, whilst reducing the risk of damage in transit.
While it takes the form of a standard rucksack, the Lowe Alpine Kulu also benefits from a large front panel opening for easier packing and access to its contents, as well as the more traditional lid and base access you'd expect from a rucksack. The rucksack has a 50 litre capacity, which can be expanded by a further 10 litres thanks to its adjustable floating lid, a useful feature when you've picked up some souvenirs and need to cram them into your bag! The main body of the pack also features an internal zippered divider, giving you the option of one large compartment or two separate ones. The Kulu is also hydration compatible and comes with an internal hydration pocket and H2O port at the top of the bag. Extra storage comes in the form of 2 x stretch side pockets, 2 x zippered lid pockets and external lash points for attaching gear to the outside of the pack.
Of course comfort is a key concern when choosing a rucksack for backpacking, and the Kulu ND50-60 certainly delivers in this department with its adjustable AirMesh back system! The back system is designed specifically for women and comes with a shorter back length and shaped shoulder straps for optimum comfort. It also features a ventilated aerator back panel to improve breathability and ventilation, which will come in useful when travelling in hot and tropical climates or during long periods of wear. When you need to check your rucksack in at the airport, it can be converted into a standard piece of haul luggage by using its travel cover, which also doubles as a rain cover when travelling in poor weather conditions.
