After the success of their best-selling Farpoint travel pack, Osprey have introduced a female specific counterpart to their travel range! The Osprey Fairview 40 is designed for women, with a female specific back system and includes all the same great features from their Farpoint series.

If you're planning a shorter trip or like to travel light, the Fairview 40 is the ideal piece of luggage for your trip! The Fairview 40 comes with a generous 40 litre capacity and twin compartment design, allowing you to easily separate and organise your clothes and accessories. The main compartment includes a large zippered mesh pocket for storing laundry and handy internal compression straps to help maximise your packing space. The main compartment is accessed via a large zip panel opening, making for easy packing and access to your gear.

The front compartment includes a padded 15.4" laptop sleeve and zippered pocket for storing your passport, travel documents, guide books and more! As well as the internal pockets, the Fairview also includes dual mesh external front pockets and a 'scratch-free' pocket for storing your sunglasses or electronic items.

As the Fairview was designed specifically for women, it offers a female specific fit, with an ergonomically shaped harness, hip belt, back panel and yoke. It also features die-cut spacer mesh material for padding and ventilation, a godsend in tropical climates, or when you need to carry it on your back for prolonged periods of time. When you fancy a change, you can zip away the harness and use the detachable shoulder strap to carry it over your shoulder.

Comes in Misty Grey.

WS/WM back length: 38-53cm

Fairview 40 FAQ's

Q: Can you attach a daypack to the Fairview 40?

A: No, you can't attach a daypack to this backpack. However, the larger Fairview 55 comes with a removable 13 litre daypack.

Q: What's the difference between the Fairview 40 and Farpoint 40?

A: Osprey launched the Fairview 40, the female fit counterpart to the Farpoint 40, in Autumn 2017. The Fairview 40 is designed for women with 38-53cm back length, ergonomically shaped harness, hip belt, back panel and narrower yoke. Since the introduction of the Fairview range, Osprey have categorised their Farpoint 40 as a men's travel backpack. However, it is still suitable for both men and women due to its choice of back lengths. The S/M back length is typically the most popular option with female travellers and the M/L is more popular with male travellers.

Q: Is the back system adjustable?

A: No, the back system is not adjustable. The Fairview is designed to fit women with a back length of 38-53cm. To measure your back length you will need to locate your C7 vertebrae (the bony bump at the base of your neck) and iliac crest (the top of the hip bones) and measure the distance between the two.

Q: Is the Fairview 40 suitable for using as hand luggage on all airlines?

A: The Fairview 40 is 54 x 35 x 23cm in size and is designed to conform with the EU maximum carry-on luggage size. When the Fairview 40 isn't packed to capacity, you can use the external compression straps to reduce its size to 54 x 35 x 20cm. While the Fairview 40 is suitable for using as carry-on luggage on the majority of airlines, we would strongly recommend checking your airline's cabin bag size and weight restrictions before buying this bag.

Q: Where do you store the back system cover when you're using the backpack straps?

A: The cover that protects the backpack straps can be unzipped, rolled up and stored inside a small compartment at the base of the backpack when you're carrying the Farpoint 40 on your back.

Q: What size laptop will fit inside the Fairview 40?

A: The Fairview 40 is designed to hold a 15.4" laptop and comes with padding at the front and back of its laptop sleeve.

Q: Is this bag big enough to take on a 4 week trip?

A: This is largely down to how you pack, but the Fairview 40 is suitable for anything from a weekend away to several months of backpacking. With the growing popularity of carry-on only travel, many backpackers are now opting for 40 litre backpacks and using space saving packing techniques, such as only packing the essentials and using packing cubes to maximise their packing space. If you're travelling for 4 weeks, the Fairview 40 would be a suitable option, as long as you're not packing a lot of equipment in addition to your clothes and essentials. If you don't tend to travel light, we would recommend the larger Fairview 55 travel backpack, which also comes with a removable daypack for day trips.
